Only Vegetarian Food is the Food for humans

Why Only Vegetarianism?

Dear all , We are presenting here some of the facts of why we need to be vegetarians to evolve spiritually.

Also at the end of the article quotes by Saints across all religion were also Given along with explanation why Egg should be considered as Non-Vegetaraian Food and hence Forbidden.

“Even if one has the power to bring a dead person alive but if he has the idea of meat eating then he can never be called a Gnanai. He will never get the grace of lord and his life will be determined by his fate and will never cross the birth death cycle.”  – TiruArutPrakasa Vallalar

Our Body Anatomy

First of all if we study our body anatomy it resembles herbivorous(plant eaters) but god created us as Omnivorous as we have the JeevaSudantra (freewill) to select or do good or evil. But from the anatomy we see our inherent body structure is to be of vegetarians. Our body digiestive fluid acidity, teeth structure, length of digestive system all resemble herbivorous.

Leaving aside science, let us use our common sense to evaluate why we need to be vegetarians. As human we preach love and compassion and expect the same from others. It is also said getting a human birth is very rare. When we kill animals for food we clearly see the animals suffer the pain. It runs away fearing for the life and reacts in a same way like humans.

Suffering that a animal killed for Food Undergoes:

Imagine the pain a animal suffers in slaughter houses or imagine a fish taken from water and now think how we feel when we get drowned in water. If we do not care for these sufferings how can we expect god to help us in our trouble. For any progress on sprituallity we need compassion and Love. “Anbe Sivam” or “Love is god”. By eating flesh of animals we are killing the love. That’s why vallalar has said people who eat non-veg food will never get the grace of lord and their life will be determined only according to their fate.

It is said removing the soul from a body forcefully is the highest pain a soul can suffer. We are forcefully removing the soul from a animal body and making it to suffer. As per the law of karma we are forced to suffer the same pain and fear either in this birth or other.

Does plant do not have Life?

Some people argue that plant too has life. Yes plant too has life in it but its consiousness is very poor or ill developed and the pain it suffers is far too meagre or insignificant as the plant doesnot have nervous system and sensory sytem as that of a animal (say a cow , sheep or fish). That’s why our
scriptures tell that plants were with consiousness of 1st level or very basic consiousness.

Vallalar in his JeevaKarunyam tells that taking out the fruits, roots and other parts of plant are like removing nails and hair from our body which does not give us any pain.

“It is a fact that plants also have life like animals. But animals are endowed with mind, and nervous systems too while the plants do not possess the same. The animals cry and weep when they are being killed. It is not the case with plants; as such, equating killing of animals and destruction of plants is faulty logic.” – Sathya Sai Baba

Also we can’t produce our own food we need to depend on plants which have the capability to produce its own food.

See the beauty of god’s creation, god has given the capability for plants to produce its food but made it senses or consiousness so minimal. Clearly this shows the plant food is for humans. Also god has given the capability for humans to regrow a plant (rice, wheat, etc) from plant seedbut we can’t do so
for animals.

Now let us see what great saints and siddhars who have reached the highest state have told about non-eating.

1. Vallalar :

He is the latest great saint we had who have acheived the greatest state in sprituality and who has overcome death by converting his physical body to spritual light body.

In his writings he says “My Intelligence is going beyond universe and universes”. He clearly says who ever eats flesh of other beings is not eligible to get the grace of lord. He also says if a person has got siddhi to raise another person from death and if that person eats meat then he too cannot overcome the repeated cycle of birth and death. This great soul who advocated there is no difference in person based on birth, language , religion has divided people as Agavinathaar and Puravinathaar. Puravinathar is a person who eats meat and not virutuous and this type of person can
never receive the grace of the lord. But any person by leaving side meat eating can become eligible for receiving the grace and can become Agavinathar.

2. Thriuvalluvar :

Has written a complete stanza(10 Couplets) denouncing meat eating.

3. Thirumoolar , Manichavasagar:

Has condemened meat eating and condems the meat eaters as Pulaiyars (Condemned Sinners).

4. All the major philosophies of Advaitam (by AdhiSankarar), Dwaitam(Madvacharyar) and Visistadvaidam (Ramanujar) advocates eating only vegetarian food for progress in sprituality.

5. jainism also condems meat eating strongly.

So all major religions condemn meat eating.

There are also saints who have reached lord despite meat eating. If we look at their history we see they have undergone lot of physical sufferings in their life before attaining divinity. That’s why vallalar when asked lord if anyone in anyplace has reached divinity like him without undergoing much difficulity, lord has told that he is the only person to realize him without undergoing much difficulity. This vallalar attributes to his jeevakarunyam. (Compassion he had for all the souls).

Just think even the great souls has to undergo this sufferings to clean their karma despite their extreme devotion like kannapanayanaar. We as a ordinary humans can we undergo such sufferings? So the supreme lord’s law were same to all, if you commit wrong you will be punished accordingly. But if we repent and stop them any one can reach the supreme lord.

We accumulate lot of bad karma by eating non-veg food which will prevent us from progressing towards spritiuality and we need extreme effort to overcome this karma.

Today all our knowledge and views were influenced by what we read and what we see. So it is always better to read the works of great saints like vallalar, Thiruvalluvaar who have attained lord and follow them.

We have seen all the great saints condeming meat eating, so we need to shun this meat eating for any one to progress on sprituality.

Vegetarianism alone will not bring one closer to divinity but it will help one to do penance effectively and makes one good human with love and compassion towards all living beings around us. Vegetarianism is the first step to be taken in spirituality.

Quotes from Saints

TiruArut Prakasa Vallalar :

Even if one has the power to bring a dead person alive but if he has the idea of meat eating then he can never be called a Gnanai. He will never get the grace of lord and his life will be determined by his fate and will never cross the birth death cycle.

Person who has shun meat eating and has compassion on all life forms will be eligible for getting divine grace.

Sathya Sai Baba

“It is a fact that plants also have life like animals. But animals are endowed with mind, and nervous systems too while the plants do not possess the same. The animals cry and weep when they are being killed. It is not the case with plants; as such, equating killing of animals and destruction of plants is faulty logic.” – Sathya Sai Baba

“Today, let it be anyone, whether one deems himself a devotee or not, he should give up meat eating.those Those Who genuinely seek to become devotees of God have to give up non-vegetarian food. Calling themselves Sai devotees or devotees of Rama and Krishna, they fatten the chickens. How can they be deemed Sai devotees? How can God accept such a person as a devotee? Therefore, those who aspire to become devotees of God must give up, meat liquor and smoking.” – Sathya Sai Baba

“The provision of drinking water to the people and putting an end to the killing of animals for food are two prime needs for the country to regain its pristine glory.” –  Sathya Sai Baba

Manu-Samhita:

“He who permits the slaughter of an animal, he who cuts it up, he who kills it, he who buys or sells meat, he who cooks it, he who serves it up, and he who eats it, must all be considered as the slayers of the animal. There is no greater sinner than that man who though not worshiping the gods or the ancestors, seeks to increase the bulk of his own flesh by the flesh of other beings.” (Manu-samhita 5.51-52)

“By not killing any living being, one becomes fit for salvation.” (Manu-samhita 6.60)

Bhagavat Purana:

“Those who are ignorant of real dharma and, though wicked and haughty, account themselves virtuous, kill animals without any feeling of remorse or fear of punishment. Further, in their next lives, such sinful persons will be eaten by the same creatures they have killed in this world.” (Bhagavata Purana 11.5.14)

TiruKural :

Greater than a thousand ghee offerings consumed in sacrificial fires is to not sacrifice and consume any living creature.   – Tirukural

How one can get Grace if he develops his flesh by eating the flesh of other living beings. – Tirukural

Mahabharatha:

“That man, who having eaten meat, gives it up afterwards wins merit by such a deed that is so great that a study of all the Vedas or a performance, O Bharata, of all the sacrifices [Vedic rituals], cannot give its like. (115.16)” – Mahabharatha

“Those cruel men who, not caring for various other sorts of food, want only flesh, are really like great Rakshasas [meat-eating demons]” – Mahabharatha

Bagavad Gita

One who is not envious but who is a kind friend to all living entities is dear to me.

Bible

Do not kill. – Christ one of the 10 commandement.

“And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” —Genesis 1:30

“Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy” – New Testament

Quran:

“It is not their meat nor their blood, that reaches Allah; it is your piety that reaches Him.” (22.37)

“Show mercy to all living beings like the mercy and love shown to you by the Lord” –Mohammed Words.

Buddhism

To become vegetarian is to step into the stream which leads to nirvana.

Lord MahaVira

Show Love towards all the life forms. If one hurts other life forms he is in fact first harming himself.

Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

To be nonviolent to human beings and to be a killer or enemy of the poor animals is Satan’s philosophy. In this age there is always enmity against poor animals, and therefore the poor creatures are always anxious. The reaction of the poor animals is being forced on human society, and therefore there is always strain of cold or hot war between men, individually, collectively or nationally.

Egg is Non-Vegetarian Food Only

Egg is not Vegetarian. The basic and essential elements of hen is what egg is made of.

The high cholestrol found in the egg is deposited in our skin and in the blood vessels. This highly increases the possibility of one getting disease like high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke.

Some people sell and eat egg telling it will not hatch. This is equivalent to mensural cycle of females. Eating these eggs makes one impotent and increases the possibility of childlessness.

Today to get eggs, people put the hens in tiny cages and give lot of pain to it. The Egg obtained in such a condition gives plenty of pain and bad karma to the eater.

Vallalar has clearly warned that one of the worst sins to commit is to “Putting a bird in a Cage”.

So Become Vegetarian and take the first step in humanity and spirituality.

but in siddha medicines they are using animals thats not a sin???

    • admin February 13, 2013 at 8:50 am

Eating flesh of animals is always sin. Today there were misunderstood or incorrect interpretation on siddhar’s text by many. That’s why this confusion. Tirumoolar, Tiruvalluvar and many other siddhars have strongly condemened meat eating. So if one wants to progress in sprituality and to get the grace of Lord leaving Non-Veg food and leading virtous life is the first step. Else one life will be determined only by one’s fate (karma) and he can never come out of it.

  2. admin February 13, 2013 at 1:18 pm

Please read the article again in full. Vallalar clearly mentiones meat eating people as puravinathaar – meaning one who do not attain Lord. Tiruvalluvar has written 10 songs condeming meat eating. Siddhar Tirumoolar condems meat eating and call those people as Pulayar. SO we are quoting those saints and telling that it is sin. Request you to read the article in full again.

Just think even the great souls has to undergo this sufferings to clean their karma despite their
    extreme devotion like kannapanayanaar

What is the sufferring that Kannapanayanaar has under gone?

    • admin April 2, 2013 at 9:37 am

Kannapanayanaar has to pluck his eyes and keep it in sivalinga. His devotion is such that he is even ready to pluck his second eye. With this extreme devotion and by his act he cleared his past karmas. Even before this he forsake everything including his royal birth , true friend for the siva.

    Is eating egg corrcet?
It does not involve pain or suffering of any other soul?

    • admin April 2, 2013 at 9:40 am

How do you know the soul is not suffering. You are infact denying the body of chicken to the soul which is about to enter in the egg which is according to its karma. It’s karma is to get the body of hen/cock and undergo the karmic cycle of animal with senses.
Since this is disturbed you are incuring sin.
      Hope you understand.

      • admin October 28, 2013 at 6:09 am

Read the article again. Plants are with single consciousness. Eating them is like removing hair from our head. This was clearly told by vallalar. We can feel our hair but when it is cut we do not feel the pain. It is in a similar way.

Just follow the teachings of great. They have complete knowledge, only by following their words can we progress. Understand that our knowledge is very minimal

I started learning about the reality of our life… I am having small doubt… Why god has created us and why he has make us to forgot the reallity and why again he is insisting us to know who we are???

    • admin May 3, 2013 at 6:22 am

The answers for your question even though may look great it is of no use.
To understand God first you have to understand yourself and once you realize yourself, you can know this. The question is like we studying in Pre-KG and trying to find analyze some college education. So first thing is realize self. For this with good habbits shunning meat get Deekshai and Upadesam from Guru. With Penance you realize yourself and then everything will be known. Till then do your duty. The duty of human birth to realize self and for that come to the Guru and do Penanace and this is the only way.

WE SHOULD NOT HARM OTHERS FOR FOOD, LIFE AND FOR AY OTHER PROPERTY, IN THIS WORLD WE MAY FEEL COMFORTABLE, BUT IN REAL WE LOOSE EACH AND EVERY SENSES AND AT LAST BECOME STONE

    • p.a.maniram June 2, 2013 at 9:19 am

A MAN WHO EATS AND PAIN OTHERS WILL NOT REACH GOD AT ANY TIME AND HIS DEATH -BIRTH IS CONTINUOUS

  7. Karthik April 28, 2014 at 2:48 pm

If eating meat and killing animal for meat or skin is sin, then there are lot of Guru’s , Munivar and Gods who use to wear or sit in animal skin (Tiger, Deer, Elephant)

You cannot get skin of dead animal which died in forest (scavengers are there to snatch the corps), you have to kill it and skin the animal.

    Is this not a SIN?

    • admin April 30, 2014 at 6:18 am

      HI

Killing an animal or human by whomsoever is definitely a sin and anyone has to undergo the effects of it.

Have you really seen munivars or gods sitting on the skin of animal. The photos of them are symbolic representations. Sitting on that symbolically implies they have won over their karmas which were represented as tiger, elephant and deer. Karmas are strong and fierce like tiger and elephant and its illusion(maya) appears as beautiful like deer.

To put in perspective see what Vallalar as told in his divine songs Tiruvarutpa “Even if one possess great power to bring a dead person alive but if he happens to eat Non-Vegetarian food and indulges in killing, he will never get the grace of the Lord and is not a Gnanai. This is the supreme law of Lord.”

Also vallalar has said “Merely reading the religious text will lead only to confusion. Only by looking within us through the divine light of eyes will the truth be revealed. Our eyes are the spiritual gift to us by the Supreme Lord.”

      – Vallalar in TiruVarutpa

I have a friend who claim to have 25 years of spiritual experience.
It seems he personally meets enlightened people who are non vegetarians.
He firmly says that one does not need to be a vegetarian to achieve enlightenment.

    PLEASE COMMENT

    • admin July 30, 2016 at 6:45 am

Please read the article again in full and decide whom you will follow-> God Realized Saint or Immortal Man. Remember this words from Vallalar in tiruvarutpa:

“Even one has got the power to raise a dead man but if he happens to eat Non-Veg food then he will never get the grace of lord and will never be called a Gnani (Realized Person). This is the supreme law of the Supreme Lord and there is no law more than this”.

“This shows what ever experience one get when eating Non-Veg food is all illusion”.
